Green Hydrogen, Clean Energy, Future Energy
Amid the global urgency to reduce carbon emissions and accelerate the transition to clean energy, green hydrogen is emerging as an innovative and sustainable solution. Long known as the most abundant element in the universe, hydrogen has great potential as a future energy source. However, not all hydrogen is created equal. Green hydrogen, produced through the electrolysis of water using renewable energy, offers great promise for a carbon-free future.
Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant, a pioneer in geothermal energy generation in Indonesia, has successfully produced green hydrogen for Indonesia's clean energy needs. By utilizing clean and sustainable geothermal energy, Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant is strategically positioned to become a center for green hydrogen production in Indonesia. The energy used comes from geothermal energy, and the hydrogen produced is emission-free, making it one of the purest forms of green hydrogen.

Currently, the hydrogen sales mechanism is managed by PLN EPI, which ensures that the distribution and management of green hydrogen runs smoothly and in accordance with the required standards. With the infrastructure that continues to grow, PT PLN (Persero) group shows its commitment to supporting clean energy through hydrogen technology innovation. The synergy between PLN Indonesia Power and PLN EPI also supports the implementation of how green hydrogen can become a main pillar in achieving the goal of carbon-free energy in the future.
USE CASE

Green Hydrogen Geothermal Kamojang
Since its operation in February 2024, PLTP Kamojang has made history as the first Green Hydrogen Geothermal power plant in Asia. This plant is able to guarantee the availability of 4.3 tons of green hydrogen per year with a purity level of up to 99.9%. This marks an important milestone in the energy industry, showing that Indonesia is not only able to contribute to the global energy transition but also leads in environmentally friendly renewable technologies.

EV Charging Station Senayan-Jakarta
One of the important innovations of the Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant is the packaging of green hydrogen in high-pressure cylinders, ensuring its safety during the shipping process to various locations, including the HRS (Hydrogen Refueling Station) Senayan in Jakarta. There, green hydrogen is utilized in a fuel cell generator to produce electricity that is used as an energy source to charge electric vehicles. This process shows the great potential of green hydrogen as a reliable source of clean energy.

Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS) PLN IP Senayan-Jakarta
HRS Senayan, which was inaugurated on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, is the first hydrogen filling station in Indonesia with a capacity to provide 203 tons of green hydrogen per year. The presence of HRS Senayan makes it easier for hydrogen-fueled vehicles to refill, making it an attractive alternative for environmentally conscious vehicle users.
